About Tim Oakes I’m a cultural geographer interested in tourism, heritage, and other forms of cultural display. I do research in China on the ways local culture gets displayed and performed for the purposes of economic development and as an additional governance tool for the state.
I live in Lyons, and I also work at a local organic farm. I spend a lot of time running trails and skiing the backcountry.
